Exploring the Plateau
One can explore the ‘Samudri Tapu plateau’ apart from a visit to Chandra Tal.
There are huge pasture lands and multiple short hike’s and treks that aren’t known to the most.
Ponds of the gods
There are many crystal clear water bodies hidden in plain sight, in the vast lush green meadows. This is one of the many treks that originate from here.
Such as Samudri Tapu lake trek, Baralacha la trek, Kunzum la trek etc.
Visit Kunzum Pass
The gate way to Spiti lies right above Chandra Tal, Kunzum La.
It also hosts a temple of the deity ‘Kunzum Mata’. Once every year the stone idol is put on display for people.
Travel around Spiti exploring the unique terrain and culture.
Monasteries, wide river basins, huge barren mountains and deep gorges. Visit attractions like worlds highest bridge, post office and ancient caves where monks used to meditate.
Witness exquisite fauna of the region such as Ibex, Blue sheep, Snow leopard, Brown bear, Foxes, Himalayan snowcock, Golden eagle, Pallas cat etc in the Kibber wildlife sanctuary.
The pass is considered a significant spiritual site, with a shrine dedicated to Kunzum Mata, who is seen as a personification of the pass. This shrine serves as an object of faith for travelers, especially those who drive through the challenging terrain of the pass. The area around the pass is also marked by chortens (stupas), Tibetan prayer flags, and Mani stones, which are common in Tibetan Buddhist traditions
If you seek an adrenaline filled adventure, Mt. Kanamo would be an ideal trekking peak for you at the altitude of almost 6000m.
Stay and meditate at one of the oldest and largest monasteries which was founded in the 11th century.
