In the Great Himalayan National park, there lies an unfrequented trail that takes you all the way to the source of the river Sainj.

It starts from the beautiful town called Shangarh, which is famous for its jungles and meadows, all the way to the convergence of two glaciers where the river Sainj takes form.
The trail goes through a dense forest of oak and pine as you walk alongside the river for the first two days, passing by massive waterfalls, adding to the immersive experience. Later on, you get to witness grasslands, meadows around you, distinctive species of flora and fauna, and the rare inhabitants of the national park, i.e birds and animals.

The myths around this trek are also pretty interesting, which is reflected in the name 'Raktisar' itself. Legend has it that the terrible demon known as "Raktbeej" was beheaded by the goddess Kali, and the head that fell caused a crater on impact, where a sacred lake now lies.
