Kais Dhar is a forest trail, located just about 10 kilometers from Kullu town. This easy trail is about 6km long which is fairly flat. It takes you through some dense forests of pine and birch, overlooking the Lug valley, right next to Kullu.. The trail through the forest opens up to a small ridgeline where one can enjoy the grand views of Pir Panjal and Dhauladar mountain ranges. . There is a short hike further to the highest point on the ridgeline called Champagarh. There lie some ruins of an an old outpost. Views from this point are truly mesmerizing. There is a Forest rest house made by the british in the 1920's which you wil be staying at
Itinerary
- Visit to the local monastery
- Overnight stay in Hotel
- Kullu to Kais Dhar via Peej –
Hike through forests of pine to reach the ridge just above kullu valley. Go through the village, visit the temples and on a straight 6km trail to Kais Dhar.
- Taxi to Peej on request on additional charges available. Saves 1 hour of steep ascent
- Overnight Stay in Forest rest house
- Early morning short hike to Champagarh and back to Kais Dhar
- Kais Dhar to Kullu
