Mon Peak, also known as Moon Peak, is the summit dominating the immediate backdrop, visible from Mcleodganj, Dharamkot, and Triund.
The Dhauladhar range is a granite wall of mountains rising abruptly from the Kangra plains to an average height of some 14,000 ft
One of the famous and prominent peaks as seen from Triund hill, is the Moon or the Mon peak, named after General Money ,as most of the routes were established by the Brits posted in the area.
It is located adjacent to Indrahar pass in the Dhauladar mountain range, which presents a moderate to challenging peak climbing experience.
It is a prominent peak in the backdrop of Triund Hill meadows.
The lofty elevation of this ascent provides excellent views of the 'Kangra' valley extending up to the 'Pong dam'. The mountain's steep inclines, the glacier, and the meadows below create a visually stunning climb.
Visitors can enjoy quality moments in Lahesh Cave prior to the summit day, observing the interplay of sunlight and clouds from the cave that provides stunning panoramic views of the valley.
It is a lasting ascent throughout the season and a difficult, technical climb before the season when the slopes are covered in snow.
There are multiple routes to ascend this mountain based on the season and the kind of climb you wish to undertake.
Wildlife such as bears and wild horses and pika's can be observed in the vicinity around the trail.
