One more hidden treasure in the Kullu Valley that a novice hiker may explore is the Chandrakhani pass. This served as a trade and shepherd's trail between the Kullu and Malana valleys which eventually leads into the Parvati Valley.
It depicts the ancient culture of the Kullu Valley while also being influenced by the myths and odd traditions of the enigmatic 'Malana' community.
Walking through the ancient growth forests of deodar, oak, and pine on the first day, you come across grasslands above your path that stretch all the way to the ridgeline, which provides a view of the majestic "Deo Tibba," "Indrasan," and the Parbati range.
Learn about the history, culture and lore of the "Malani" and their lord Jamlu dev. Witness the ancient and unique architecture of the distinct cultures and how Malana's culture and language are so very distinct from any other in the whole Kullu district.
